How much is an oil tranny cooler for a 4 litre jeep cherokee 1995 auto,im told i need it for towing?

I have a cherokee and the owners manuel says if you are doing any towing with it you should put on a tranny cooler.Depending on where you shop will effect the price I purchased a hayden high performance one for 49.00 dollars at a local parts place. But I saw the same cooler for as high as 89.00 dollars at a transmission shop. While some people will say you don't need it the factory does and it is an insurance policy against overheating your transmission and either causing burnt fluid and transmission failure or blowing out a front seal from heat. How much is an oil tranny cooler for a 4 litre jeep cherokee 1995 auto,im told i need it for towing?
You already have one.

I tow a 27ft`er with mine, no trouble! How much is an oil tranny cooler for a 4 litre jeep cherokee 1995 auto,im told i need it for towing?
You don't need it, I presume it is to tow your 20ft caravan, it will tow it without a problem. My shogun 2.5diesel tows 4 tonnes down to the south of France without a problem.
unless your planning on towing a very heavy trailer over difficult terrain you don't need a cooler. These vehicles were designed and built with towing in mind and are fitted with an oil cooler anyway what you've been told i suspect is that you need a larger capacity cooler by someone who wants to sell you one. If your still unsure check with jeep but I've towed with auto's for many years mainly range rover, discovery and jeep and my caravan was over 2ton loaded never had any problems but i would suggest a transmission service so the fluid is nice and clean so able to do its job smoothly and help disperse heat
How old is your Jeep? 1995

Unless it is having issues because someone never took care of it, you do not need one!

Someone is trying to sell you something that your Jeep does not need at all! Even if your Jeep did not come with a factory tow package, I really doubt that you are going to tow something so heavy that your Jeep will barely be able to handle it, correct?

Even if you have an after market hitch put on, your transmission will handle towing just fine. Please don't pay for one, you do not need it.

Now if your Jeep has heating issues, like running hot! That would be above 220 all the time, you don't need it. You need to take care of the engine heating up issue first. Radiator flush, new thermostat, new anti freeze coolant, hoses, etc., etc..

So, if all else is good, no worries, no issues........

.......Don't have one put on, someone is trying to make a buck off of you!

Best of luck to you.

Take care.
