How do you install a honda accord sandwich adapter for a 1992? This is for the oil cooler?

If you have a 20mm x 1.5 Thread Size sandwich adapter already, it screws on in place of the oil filter, then the filter screws on to it. You then have to have hoses leading from the adapter to an engine oil cooler, mounted in the airstream in the front of the car or other location if you have room, but should have an accessory fan if not in the frontal air stream. (There is probably not room on this vehicle for any alternate mounting location.) These hoses can be premade crimped hoses built by a hose shop or possibly some local parts suppliers, or hose clamped to pipe nipples mounted in the adapter. Depending on the oil cooler you aquire, they can be hose nipple connections, AN fittings which need to be assembled on appropriate hose, like Aeroquip AQP hose, or fittings that screw into pipe thread like what is on the adapter. Trans-Dapt makes a sandwhich adapter like this. It is part number 3965 or now possibly a 1358. 3965 may no longer be available at your local parts supplier. The hoses need to be of sufficient size as to not restrict the flow of oil.

From TransDapt instruction sheet:

1. Remove factory oil filter from engine.

2. Install sandwich adapter on factory filter landing with the appropriate O-ring installed in the adapter.

3. Screw sleeve nut on factory filter nipple until snug.

4. Position adapter in direction desired; tighten with wrench to about 25 foot pounds of torque.

5. Install oil cooler (not included) as per manufacturer鈥檚 instructions.

6. Reinstall factory oil filter.

Caution:

1. If filter O-ring is flush with rim of filter, rim may hit adapter first, not allowing a good seal. This may

occur with Japanese brands. Select another brand.

2. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN cooler lines when connecting to the sandwich adapter.
