Is it possible to start a career in the oil field at the age of 30?

i have Bachelors degree in biomedical engineering and A masters degree in computer science.I worked in the field of Information technology for 3 years. I am going to turn 30 years old next year,Lately I got bored from my job and i look around and find all the jobs in the IT field lost my interest. I am interested to work in the oil field where lots of training and traveling around the world is included. that is what am looking for. a new challenge and visiting new places while still utilizing my technical knowledge. and ofcourse being well paid at the end.Is it possible to start a career in the oil field at the age of 30?
Yes, of course. Let's look at it this way - you currently only have three years of work experience, and you're bored already! But at the age of 30, you still have probably around 30 years more of working life left. Do you want to be bored for the next 30 years?!?!?! Hell no!

Basically, if you want to change careers, just go for it. The only downside would be that you *may* possibly have to take a lower salary initially, as you may not have experience in this field. However, this should be compensated by the fact that you'd enjoy the job more, and anyway, your earning potential will increase over time.

I switched careers at the age of 26 - which I know isn't very old - but it did mean that colleagues who were the same age as me but had been working in the field since graduation had five years more experience than me, and therefore were earning a lot more. However we're now two years on and I have almost caught up to them, and I envisage that by early next year I will have fully caught up.Is it possible to start a career in the oil field at the age of 30?
as long as you are in good enough physical condition....I say go for it, it will definitely be a huge change than being around computers all day!!
