When you find out let me know!LOL Just playin..but it aint easy. It's a lot of legwork.
See if you can join some local art associations. Enter shows. Show you're work.. a lot! Get business cards with your number and web address on them( make a website!;) give them out whenever you can. Join online galleries.
I always bring photos of my work in a small album and keep it in my purse That way if the subject comes up, out comes the book.LOL Don't bombard people with stuff though..just have it handy just in case.
you can get your work shown at libraries, book stores, coffee shops, public buildings. You just have to ask if they let artists show thier work and have your photos ready.
If you're still at the beginning stages and haven't produced a lot of work. See if you can sign up for some classes somewhere.
I'm assuming you're thining of being a fine artist. But you could also go the commercial route..more money in that.;) You could learn to design websites, clothes, or become an illustrator. A good school would help you find out what it is you want to do in the future.
There's a lot of books out there on becoming a working artist. Look in the book store though because a lot of library books are out of date. There are even websites that give advice for artists.
about.com has a lot of good stuff for artists..Go to this link:
http://painting.about.com/od/careerdevel鈥?/a>
you should find something helpful there. They also have a painting forum at about.com
hope this helps;)How do i make a career out of oil painting which is my interest?
I don't know if you'll find it very useful but I can tell you my opinion : I am a Graphic Artist ,and as you maybe know , engravings are less popular than 'coloured' paintings . I found the best way to pursue my artistic career is by let's say 'learn a trade' . This way I won't have to compromise my Art , as to say won't be forced to paint more 'comercial' paintings (as still life or copy masterpieces etc...) . So I work as an Illustrator and with the money I get from illustrations I 'support' my Graphic career . It's simple .
I'm like you at the beginning , but I try to do my best , one step at the time .
And another advise : don't get overexited to have as many exhibitions as you can . You have to be choosy about this aspect : you should only try and participate at national exhibitions or international Art Manifestations . At first until you start being known .
Good luck .
