Diesel?I have a dutez air cooled motor that keeps heating up and can not figure out why I have changed oil, air?
Giver her a good cleaning, alot of dust/dirt buildup will restrict air flow around the engine.
Look around the cylinder shrouding for junk or chaff sucked in and blocking the air flow, make sure the shrouding itself is all on and in place. If all is ok, I think you may have a piston problem developing, or you could have a lean injector causing an overheat. If the fan is ok and the blades all there, don't know what else. good luck

Should i paint my cool 50's METAL cabinets with acrylic enamel or something oil based?

i am in the process of stripping old paint and priming the cabinets with oil based....i have conflicting opinions as to what i should finish them off with.....i really like the high high gloss plastic look and feel of acrylic (not to mention less hassle than oil) but then again i want to go with the best paint and durability for the job. These cabinets are 50+ years old and super cool.....answers from anyone experienced or a paint expert please!Should i paint my cool 50's METAL cabinets with acrylic enamel or something oil based?
I'm a Union Painter...I can answer this for ya...You don't have to use oil base paint. It's becoming a thing of the past. Oil base paints tend to yellow in sunlight as well with time. Don't waste all of your hard work and time with oil unless your painting on a canvas or wood.

Sherwin williams has a product called '; All Surface Enamel %26amp; Alkyd '; It has exceptional durability for highly used traffic areas. Have them tint it and pick your sheen.

The material you will need should cost you under $40.00.

I get contractor pricing...so not really 100% sure of your price.Should i paint my cool 50's METAL cabinets with acrylic enamel or something oil based?
They may look at ya like your crazy. lol..most body shops are very busy. I suppose if ya put something cute and sexy on and bashed ya lashes..women can usually get what they want. lol Report Abuse

To be honest with you and if you can, take the cabinets down and take them to an auto painting place. I did this with the metal cabinets in my garage. You can not beat the finish and the shine and you can choose from thousands of colors. They spray them, bake them and if you pay them a little extra would probably wet sand and wheel them. They can even put rust inhibitor on them to keep them looking new for years, not to mention fix any dents or dings. I'm telling you, if the cabinets in my house were metal, I would have had them done too!

Stupid Question but Do you check oil while the car's been running or while its cool?

I have no idea bc I'm extremely ignorant of most things that have to do with cars.Stupid Question but Do you check oil while the car's been running or while its cool?
check it when its cool, or wait 20-30 minutes after you last turned the car off.Stupid Question but Do you check oil while the car's been running or while its cool?
you can check it either way, just give it time to drain back to the pan and check it,hot or cold it doesn't matter you,ll get the same reading on it,good luck.
For the Engine turn off engine let it cool off about 10minutes and check. For the transmission you have to check it while in park and the engine running.
The temperature really won't make a significant difference as long as the car has been shut off for about 5 minutes or longer.
When the engine has cooled down because if the oils hot when you take the pan off the oil might spray you and cause serious damage to your skin and eyes
When it has cooled and the oil has drained back into the oil pan.
Either or. Just give it a few minutes to run back down in the pan.
  • mineral foundation
  • Could using mineral oil in a PC liquid cooling system potentially any of the cooling equipment?

The reason I'm asking if this is a viable option is because mineral oil doesn't conduct electricity, but I'm not sure just how viscous it is. This is going to be my first build so I also don't want to risk frying my computer by using water.Could using mineral oil in a PC liquid cooling system potentially any of the cooling equipment?
Remember this is a COOLING system. Water takes the heat away from your components and cools them in the radiator. If you used oil in your liquid cooling system the oil would get hot and stay hot. Think of how long it takes for cooking oil to cool down.

What kind of oil to use for cooling an oil-type welding machine?

Oil type welding machines are actually step down voltage transformers similar to those used in power distribution except that they are operating on normal voltage inputs (240V or 110V).

The same type of transformer oil as that used in the high voltage transformers are also used on oil type welding machines.

How reliable is a well maintained oil/air cooled 1500cc motorcycle engine VL1500. How many miles should it go.

i had a 2003 three vl1500 that i absolutely loved. I sold it because i kept seeing people getting hit at red lights and through no fault of their own. i decided that i would get off the road until my son was raised. as far as how far it will go, if you maintain it properly and take care of it, it should have no problem getting 70 -100 k miles.

What is that cool toy name that has the colored oil and the water that everyone had as a kid?

The toy has a normally blue colored oil and water and when it is flipped upside down, the oil will rise to the top and the water to the bottom. What is this toy's name? What is that cool toy name that has the colored oil and the water that everyone had as a kid?
